The Black Eyed Peas are coming off what I'd argue is their best singles ever, the stirring "Just Can't Get Enough" (which, as we know, saved their careers in this era of The Beginning). So now they've opted for "Don't Stop The Party" as the follow-up.
Unfortunately, as the title unintentionally implies, this particular party feels like the same one the Peas started with "Boom Boom Pow" then carried on in hits like "I Gotta Feeling" and "Imma Be." No, it doesn't sound exactly like those songs — just maybe a blend of all of them. In other words, if you consider stale trance riffs from 1999 and will.i.am and Fergie's heavily-Auto-Tuned robot hooker vocals to be your idea of a tickle up the skirt, then have at it.
For me, the icing on this flattened cake is the video, which is basically compiled of concert and backstage footage of the band. Lame.
Maybe it's time for Will to hang it up for a couple years, until he can come up with a sound that isn't completely played out?

It's Black Eyed Peas' "Just Can't Get Enough" Video
I seem to go in waves with the Black Eyed Peas. Sometimes, I want to strap them all to the front of an 18-wheeler and steer it off the nearest cliff. Other times, I find myself totally on board with their cheesy jams. And "Just Can't Get Enough" is one of those latter times.
The Peas shot the music video for their second single off The Beginning in Japan a week before last Friday's earthquake and tsunami devastated the northeast coast of the island nation, and they've therefore dedicated the clip to "all the people of Japan."
Here 'tis:

A Few Seconds Of New Will.i.am-Produced Britney Spears Song "The Big Fat Bass"
Lady Gaga's new video is such trash I think I need to cleanse my soul with this clip of new Britney Spears song "The Big Fat Bass," which was produced by will.i.am. Oh, fuck—what am I saying?
Fergieney sounds like a total robot ho, and this might as well be "The Time (Dirty Bit) Pt. II," it's so bland. The only good part is that slightly house-y piano at the beginning.
Pop music in 2011 may have just seriously jumped the shark today.

U.S. Chart Roundup: The Black Eyed Peas Sink, Duffy Flops And Enrique Keeps Fuckin'
Katy Perry's "Firework"—an enormously mediocre follow-up to "Teenage Dream"—is #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 once again, thus breaking the weekly turnover we'd seen at the top of the chart over the prior six weeks. "Firework" is also the final #1 single the Hot 100 in 2010 (the new chart is dated December 25).
Meanwhile, thankfully the Black Eyed Peas' "The Time (Dirty Bit)"—a Chart Rigger 10 Worst Singles Of 2010 honoree—has begun to slide down the Top 10 (this week from #4 to #8). Their rushed, shit album The Beginning also takes a dive over on the Top 200, and drops from #6 to #16. Our UK friends weren't so lucky, however—"The Time" is currently the #1 single across the pond.
Speaking of our friends overseas and the album chart, two ladies from the United Kingdom fare rather poorly here in the States with their latest LPs. Duffy's sophomore effort Endlessly limps in at #72 like an aged prostitute after a skiing accident (and you know the type of poles I'm referring to, chyldryn) checking into the free clinic.
And then there's Natasha Bedingfield, whose third album Strip Me crashes and burns at #103 after the Ryan Tedder/Wayne Wilkins-produced title track that sounds exactly like Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield" failed to catch on at radio (although it does re-enter the Hot 100 this week at #91).
Poor Nat. She should just resort to selling naked photos of her brother's butt from the period when he was hot to people like me. I'd pay at least a dollar for that shit!
Back on the Hot 100, two dance jams begin to inch their way toward the upper reaches of the chart: Enrique Iglesias' "Tonight (I'm Fuckin' You)" moves from #20 to #15, while Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina's "Stereo Love" is up from #24 to #19.
Finally, Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" debuts at #68. So there, Duffy.
The U.S. Top 10:
1. "Firework" - Katy Perry *2 weeks*
2. "What's My Name" - Rihanna feat. Drake
3. "Grenade" - Bruno Mars
4. "Raise Your Glass" - Pink
5. "We R Who We R" - Ke$ha
6. "Only Girl (In The World)" - Rihanna
7. "Just The Way You Are" - Bruno Mars
8. "The Time (The Dirty Bit)" - The Black Eyed Peas
9. "Just A Dream" - Nelly
10. "Bottoms Up" - Trey Songz feat. Nicki Minaj

And If You Don't Like It, Fuck You: The 10 Worst Singles Of 2010
It never fails—each year brings a new bucketful of rotten singles, causing trusty Chart Rigger sidekick Moogaboo and I put on the rubber gloves and fling them into the trash bin where they belong every December. And 2010 was certainly no exception! Below are the 10 biggest culprits of noise pollution we found lurking around the airwaves over the past 12 months.
10. Christina Aguilera, "Not Myself Tonight"
Moogaboo says: "The public deflation Xtina's bloated sense of entitlement was one of the more entertaining disasters of the year. Lucky for her, the ball-gag muffled any potential screaming tantrums."
D'luv says: "I will proudly admit that this song was one of my guilty pleasures in 2010. But I can also appreciate the sheer magnitude of flopdom is represents for Xtina's career. Plus, it wasn't the ultimate guilty pleasure. So here we are."
PREVIOUS TRIUMPH: Christina soared to #6 on our Worst list in 2006 with "Ain't No Other Man."
9. Robbie Williams & Gary Barlow, "Shame"
Moogaboo says: "I realize this is supposed to be the 'full-circle' portion of the Robbie Williams redemption story, but I find him tiresome and his continued attempts at relevance more pathetic with each passing year. Next."
PREVIOUS TRIUMPH: Robbie proudly reached #4 on our Worst list in 2006 with "Rudebox."
8. B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams, "Airplanes"
D'luv says: "Maybe if this song wasn't rammed up my ass every time I turned on the radio over the past six months, it wouldn't be here on this list. Alas..."
7. Cheryl Cole, "Promise This"
D'luv says: "If Cheryl used her mouth for something other than lip-syncing crap trash like this every time she got on a stage, she'd probably be able to keep a man."
6. Nadine Coyle, "Insatiable"
D'luv says: "How cute—she thought she had a career other than the pole."
5. Estelle, "Freak"
Moogaboo says: "Someone needed to pull this doll aside and say, 'No. Just no.' Sadly, they didn't, and that's how Estelle went from Grammy winner to dumpster barnacle in one short year."
D'luv says: "Wow—this really was a colossal flop on every level. Of course, if I paid a producer tens of thousands of dollars and this was the dreck they came up with for me, there would most definitely be a homicide."
4. Mike Posner, "Cooler Than Me"
Moogaboo says: "Finally, an anthem for insecure dildos."
3. The Black Eyed Peas, "The Time (Dirty Bit)"
D'luv says: "Good ol' Black Eyed Peas—always there to remind us that shit sells."
Moogaboo says: "So true. This completely wipes out any good will they may have accrued with 'Meet Me Half Way' and reminds me that they're the same bozos who did 'My Humps'."
PREVIOUS TRIUMPH: The Peas easily sailed to #5 on our Worst list in 2009 with "Boom Boom Pow", while Fergie received accolades when we dubbed "London Bridge" the #1 worst single of 2006.
2. Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars, "Billionaire"
D'luv says: "I wanna be a billionaire, too, so I can buy a city block and drop it on Travie McCoy's head."
Moogaboo says: "Deserves a punch in the face for the porkpie hat and suspenders alone."
1. Artists For Haiti, "We Are The World 25 For Haiti"
Moogaboo: "This doomed flotilla of Z-listers (and Streisand) capsized quickly, but I like to think their semi-sincere efforts did some good. Otherwise, we endured Jamie Foxx's obnoxious Ray Charles impression again for nothing."
D'luv says: "Apparently it takes 80 or so people to fuck up a classic, stage the biggest non-event of the year, give Vince Vaughn a reason to sing and then, ultimately, flop. But, hey, man—Bieber."

UK Chart Roundup: The Black Eyed Peas Cock Block Willow Smith, Kylie Has Seen Better Days
So maybe The Black Eyed Peas are simply a singles act now? Their shit new song "The Time (Dirty Bit)" has topped the UK chart, thereby holding Willow Smith back at #2 with "Whip My Hair." Meanwhile, the group's album The Beginning had a disastrous debut at #17 last week but has now managed to scrape its way up to #9.
Kylie Minogue has a dismal chart week with "Better Than Today", which is at #32 in its official week of release. Not since digital-only single "The One" went to #36 has the poor broad has such a tragic showing on the UK chart.
Of course, Kylie doesn't fair nearly as bad as poor Joe McElderry, who lands with a thud at #68 with "Someone Wake Me Up." Yay, X Factor—it's now as relevant as American Idol!
The U.K. Top 10:
1. "The Time (Dirty Bit)" - The Black Eyed Peas *1 week*
2. "Whip My Hair" - Willow *new*
3. "Your Song" - Ellie Goulding
4. "What's My Name" - Rihanna feat. Drake
5. "Only Girl (In The World)" - Rihanna
6. "Like A G6" - Far East Movement feat. The Cataracs & Dev
7. "Heroes" - The X Factor Finalists 2010
8. "Thinking Of Me" - Olly Murs
9. "Who's That Chick" - David Guetta feat. Rihanna
10. "Poison" - Nicole Scherzinger

UK Chart Roundup: The Black Eyed Eyed Peas Have 'The F.L.O.P.'
It's interesting to see how Nicole Scherzinger's 4,567,893rd attempt at a solo career is unfolding. Following last year's news that Pussycat Dolls were going on hiatus or breaking up or whatever the hell they're doing, Nicole put on her cha-cha thong and won Dancing With The Stars here in the States, then acted as a fill-in judge earlier this year on The X Factor.
And since she got a cushy performance spot on The X Factor last weekend, just as her RedOne-produced jam "Poison" was released, the single has now entered the UK chart at #3. You have to wonder where it would have placed sans the high-profile TV gig?
Oh, well—I'm still torn on what I think of "Poison." It's not un-enjoyable, really...is it?
Anyway, over on the album chart, the Black Eyed Peas flop in at #17 with The Beginning. That's actually a pretty colossal disaster, no? Especially considering The E.N.D. got to #3 in the UK last year.
Even more scandalous is the fact that Billboard reports The Beginning is on track to get bested by Susan Boyle's month-old The Gift on this upcoming week's U.S. album chart, and will likely only sell in the range of 100,000 to 125,000 copies. Says the mag, "For the Peas, that's off quite a bit from the arrival of their last album, The E.N.D., which gave the quartet its first No. 1 last year with a 304,000 unit start according to Nielsen SoundScan."
Yeah, well, too bad lead single "The Time (Dirty Bit)" SUCKS. Elsewhere on the UK album chart, Take That's Progress is #1 for a third week (and thus forces Olly Murs' self-titled debut to enter at #2) while Duffy's Endlessly debuts at #9.

The Black Eyed Peas' "The Time" Video Is Cool If You've Ignored Pet Shop Boys Recently
The Rich Lee-directed video for the Black Eyed Peas' by-the-numbers "The Time (The Dirty Bit)" has arrived. (Can we finally end the trend of lazy artists interpolating '80s songs after this? Please?) And I guess if you haven't paid any attention to Pet Shop Boys' Pandemonium tour...
...or any of the artwork used for their 2009 album Yes...
...then, hey—pretty innovative!

U.S. Chart Roundup: Rihanna & Drake Fall, Pink Climbs And Glee's "Teenage Dream" Comes True
Some interesting trash going on in the Billboard Hot 100 this week, starting with the fact that Rihanna and Drake's "What's My Name" plummets from #1 to #7. And I know I said last week that it's one of her most forgettable singles, but—dammit!—that effing song is actually growing on me now. I think if it had Drake stripped out altogether, a la how she's been performing the tune during her TV appearances all week, it would take on a whole new dimension of pop radness. Alas—well, dropping to #7 says it all, really.
That brings us to Pink, whose "Raise Your Glass" hops up from #7 to #4. It's shocking to think that, if we don't count the collaborative 2001 cover of "Lady Marmalade," this is really only Pink's fourth Top 5 hit, following "Most Girls" (#4, 2000) "Get The Party Started" (#4, 2001) and "So What" (#1, 2008). I, for one, have been jamming all week to her Greatest Hits...So Far!!! Yeah—she got my cold hard cash for that one. She's gonna need it to buy that kid she has on the way some leather or brass knuckles.
Debuting at #8 is Darren Criss' Glee cover of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream," a week after the original version dropped out of the Top 10. So far it's become the best-selling single during a one-week period from the Fox series, even though it didn't quite land as high as "Don't Stop Believing" (#4, 2009) on the Hot 100.
Here's Darren performing "Teenage Dream" at L.A. venue The Mint last weekend:
On a final note, the Black Eyed Peas' absolutely wretched "The Time (The Dirty Bit)" debuts at #12. If ever there was an uninspired, rushed single that deserves to flop...
The U.S. Top 10:

The Black Eyed Peas Get Really Lazy With Brand New Single "The Time (The Dirty Bit)"
Will.i.am posted the brand new Black Eyed Peas single "The Time (The Dirty Bit)"—the first issued off upcoming album The Beginning—today on his Dipdive blog. Above you see the 8 bit watch-featuring cover art.
Says Will, "We secretly shot our first video in L.A. last week before we left on our South American tour...The Beginning is our departure to the new...always pushing new sounds and technology..."
Interesting that he says "new," since "The Time" uses the utterly tired technique of not only building its chorus around the melody of an '80s pop hit—in this case, Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes' Dirty Dancing duet "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life"—it actually just uses that song's entire chorus as its own.
LAZY. I would have been more down with this potential jam had they done something way more original. I do like the tick-tock synth intro. But relying on a known song once again for a hook is tacky. (They already copped from Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" for "Meet Me Halfway," after all.)
Let's hope that, like The E.N.D. post-"Boom Boom Pow," The Beginning has better singles lying in wait. David Guetta, DJ Ammo and Will served as producers on the LP, which contains 12 tracks and is scheduled for a November 30 release.

It Would Seem This Is Only 'The Beginning' For The Black Eyed Peas
You may recall I taunted you all on April 1st with news of the Black Eyed Peas' breakup. Alas, that was not true. April Fool's Day. Ha....ha.
No, chyldryn—Fergie and Co. will follow up their 2009 album The E.N.D. with The Beginning, which will.i.am says in this interview with Nicki Minaj (from the set of their video shoot for single "Check It Out") contains 12 tracks, two of which were produced by David Guetta and four having been swizzed by Ammo of Kelis "4th Of July (Fireworks)" and Ke$ha "Your Love Is My Drug" fame.

It's Benny Benassi And Kelis' "Spaceship" Video
While last year was the Year Of Lady Gaga as far as all things pop are concerned, 2010 seems to belong to Kylie Minogue.
In my book, Kelis is a very strong runner-up so far. And "Spaceship," her collaboration with Benny Benassi, Black Eyed Peas member apl.de.ap and producer Jean Baptiste (who worked on Kelis' Flesh Tone album) is easily her best video yet this year.
Flesh Tone is out in the States next week. Dance jam "Spaceship" is available on iTunes now (and does not feature on Flesh Tone).
