Cheryl Cole puts on her big hair for a big new job...

By NATALIE TROMBETTA and CHRIS JOHNSON in Los Angeles

Hello America: Cheryl Cole shows off her huge bouffant, which she described as 'crazy wild hair' as she arrives for the first day of the U.S. X Factor auditions in Los Angeles today

Perhaps too many Dynasty reruns have left Cheryl Cole thinking this is how everyone wears their hair in America.

Whatever the reason her huge bouffant 'do certainly made an impact as she arrived for the first day of filming the U.S. X Factor.

But while she may have worked hard on her 'look', as an unknown in the States Cheryl is fast finding she will have to work hard to prove herself.

Legendary music producer LA Reid told MailOnline he hadn't even met Cheryl. And when asked what he thought of Simon Cowell's choice he replied: 'I don't know man. I've never listened to her music.'

Who is she again? Cheryl's fellow judge LA Reid admitted he had never heard her music

New girl on the block: Cheryl was lapping up the attention as she arrived for her first day of filming

Camera ready: The American media were eager to get a glimpse of the new judge

Cheryl was the second judge to arrive, flaunting her slender figure in an eye-catching pair of purple Diane von Furstenberg trousers and an Oscar de la Renta top, teamed with a turquoise belt.

She laughingly described her over-the-top hairdo as 'crazy wild hair'.

When asked how she felt about the fact Reid had never heard of her, or her music, the 27-year-old singer wasn't annoyed.

'I quite like it, it means I feel really challenged,' she said. 'I have so much respect for LA Reid. I've always admired him, so it's great for me.

'It's one of those moments where you don't know what to say or how to feel.'

Reunited: Former American Idol judges Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul celebrate their new show with a kiss on the lips

Touchy feely: The duo were very affectionate while they posed for the cameras looking excited to be working together again

Cheryl, the show's British judge, arrived in Los Angeles earlier this week, ahead of the taping.

Following months of speculation, she was only recently confirmed as a judge on the new U.S. version of the hit British reality series.

But her recruitment has sparked accusations the show is too British, with some worried the American audience won't understand Cheryl's strong regional accent.

But Cheryl laughed off the criticism, saying: 'I'm hoping people are going to embrace it.

'I'm not worried (about my accent). It's going to be interesting. I hear a lot of accents here too.'

But she conceded: 'I'm sure there will be words or phases where people are like, excuse me?'

Meeting her fans: Cheryl might still be a relative unknown in the U.S., but a huge crowd cheered her as she climbed out of her limousine

Is that really workout wear? X Factor USA judge Cheryl Cole visits celeb gym

By SARAH FITZMAURICE

Jumping for joy? Cheryl Cole was seen leaving Tracy Anderson's gym in L.A. yesterday wearing unusual workout attire and performing a number of bizarre movements as she left the gym

She has just landed one of the biggest gigs in showbusiness as judge on the U.S. version of the X Factor so Cheryl Cole could be forgiven for jumping for joy.

But as she left celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson’s gym yesterday she was quite literally doing just that - which made for a bizarre sight indeed especially because of what she was wearing.

The petite singer, who is said to have asked her brother Garry to move to America with her, ran down the steps of the gym in Studio City and performed a series of jumps pulling her knees up high to finish off her workout.

What are you wearing? The singer raced down the steps of the gym before jumping into the air. Cheryl had decided to wear a striped navy jump a pair of camel coloured baggy trousers and a pair of aviators

While her warmdown exercises may have seemed slightly unorthodox her clothing for the gym was much more curious.

Cheryl had chosen a pair of camel coloured pants and a striped navy jumper, which seemed an odd choice for the gym session and the effects of the workout could clearly be seen on the top which appeared drenched in sweat.

In fact the jumper was the same one Cheryl had worn during her flight from London to LA on Friday.

Hello USA! Cheryl arrived into LAX on Friday with her brother Garry by her side to ensure she doesn't get homesick. The auditions for the show start today

The 23-year-old will be living with the singer at her beachside hotel so she doesn’t miss home too much.

Cheryl has admitted: ‘I’m a really homely person. I miss home when I’m only away for a few days,’ The Sunday Mirror reported.

The Geordie singer’s appointment was confirmed on Thursday alongside Cowell and LA Reid as a judge on the U.S. version of the show – ending months of speculation.

Big shot: Cheryl has been given a £1.2million deal as a judge on the X Factor but is said to have been given just a year to make an impression on the American audience

The singer has landed a one-year, £1.2 million ‘make or break’ contract to appear on the new show and has a year to really make a name for herself stateside.

Cole’s deal is actually for three years – but producers have written in a get-out clause so they can dump her if she fails to win over US viewers.

There has already been some concern that her Geordie accent could prove baffling for the Americans but Cowell has said that Fox bosses back her all along.

Cole – who has been a judge on the British version of the show since2008 – said she ‘couldn’t wait to get started’ on the transatlantic version. ‘I absolutely love it in the UK and with the talent they have in America I am sure we’re going to find someone very special.'

Teen four-piece New Bounce melt audience's hearts but divide the judges on Britain's Got Talent

By ANDREA MAGRATH

Big dreams: New Bounce almost have their dreams dashed when their first song goes awry

They swaggered on to the stage with all the confidence of seasoned performers.

But cute four-piece troupe New Bounce came dangerously close to having their dreams dashed during their auditions on tonight's episode of Britain's Got Talent.

The Manchester friends, Mitchell, 16, James, 12, Kuan, 13 and MJ, 12, were introduced to the tune of The Jackson Five's ABC and described themselves as 'brothers from other mothers'.

Second chance: The cute youngsters were stopped, but had more success with their rendition of All My Life

But their ambition to 'be big stars, recording, on tours, number ones' was put in jeopardy when halfway through their audition number, Bruno Mars’ Just The Way You Are, was halted by Amanda Holden.

The judges were shown wincing as the boys' harmonies came across out of tune.

Amanda held up her hand to stop them and asked if they had another song.

New Bounce's second attempt, All My Life by K-C and JoJo, was received with cheers and wild applause by the audience.

Try again: The judges said they were 'frustrated' by the out-of-tune performance but put the boys through

Close bond: The four friends describe themselves as 'brothers from other mothers'

But even though the audience was won over, David Hasselhoff remained unconvinced.

'You, the lead singer, you were singing flat the whole time and the harmonies worked okay…when you came back with the last song, you guys were great.'

Amanda retorted: 'I didn’t think that you were that flat, you worked really, really well together and you can sing.'

Michael McIntyre said: 'I agree with David…I did think when you were singing that first song it was flat, I felt it really was…in the second song it was better.'

Raunch factor: Sexy dance troupe Girls Roc had David Hasselhoff hot under the collar

Too sexy for the Queen? Michael was concerned about their raunchy routine but Amanda and David loved it

The sweet-faced boys were left nervous after Michael told them no, while Amanda put them through.

It was left to David, who decided: 'You gotta work on your stuff, you were flat today…but I’m glad you sang that second son. Yes.'

Other acts who were left on the edge of their seat with indecisive judges were raunchy dance act Girls Roc.

The sexy girls gyrated with snakes and swallowed fire as part of their routine, which they performed in skimpy leotards.

Big moment: The violinist gets her chance to impress the judges on tonight's show

Talent: French dancer Michael stuns the dancers (and his translator, right) with his moves

Moves: David Hasselhoff said Michael was 'the best dancer we've seen on this show'

Moving: Dancer James, who revealed he was home-schooled after suffering autism, had Amanda close to tears with his emotional routine

Another raunchy auditionee is classically-trained musician Alexandra Parker, 22, who wows the judges in her skintight leather as she plays the violin.

The ex-busker from Doncaster struts out onto the stage in round four of the auditions round - and before she's said her name, comedian Michael, 35, jokes: 'You’re through.'

Former Baywatch smoothie David Hasselhoff, 58, - himself a fan of leather trousers - almost seems to lose his cool, and all he can think to say is 'You have a lovely string section.'

Amanda meanwhile attempts to keep the boys in check with some withering looks, and says: 'You are a very good violinist, I'm just trying to keep it real here.'

All over the world: An extremely flexible contestant shows off her skills and received three yes votes from the judges after David said she 'had gone around the world in 80 moves'

Tasty: fine art student Nathan thrilled Michael with his Marmite portrait

Glamorous Alex said afterwards: 'Michael just concentrated on the fact I didn’t have many clothes on and The Hoff just sat there with his mouth open. But Amanda said she needed to know if I could play!'

Unsurprisingly, she gets a standing ovation from David, as well as show hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

Also on the show are an 11-year-old Billy Elliot in the making, autistic ballet dancer James.

Clever canine: Angela and her dog teddy show off their skills on the BGT stage

Full of surprises: Robert Fulford's soprano voice stunned the judges, while Rachel takes a strange approach to musical talent with her loo-roll trumpet

There's also a burlesque dancer, Teddy the dancing dog, a body popper called Michael, 21, and student Nathan, 21, who makes a picture of Michael out of pieces of toast and Marmite.

Other acts include the rather improbable Sailor Pig .

Show four sees Britain’s Got Talent roll into Cardiff, Manchester and Birmingham with judges Michael McIntyre, Amanda Holden and David Hasselhoff.

Oh my god! Sing If You Can presenter Stacey Solomon gets the chop

By JODY THOMPSON

Get shorty: Stacey Solomon showed off her new short hairstyle as she left ITV1's London studios after an appearance on Loose Women yesterday

She only recently went back to her roots and ditched the bleach to return to her natural brunette - and now Stacey Solomon has rung in the changes ever further by having her hair cut into a wavy bob.

The 21-year-old star revealed her brand new do as she left the ITV studios on London's South Bank after a guest appearance yesterday on Loose Women.

Smiling for the cameras as ever, Stacey showed off the style wearing a bright peach top with a white bow, taupe leggings and red bowed flipflops.

Give us a wave: The Sing If You Can presenter has had her long brunette hair cut into a wavy bob

The former X Factor star, who won last year's I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here - is famed for her non-stop talking and exclamations like 'Oh my god!'.

She came third on the X Factor in 2009, won last year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me out Of Here and this year's Celebrity Mum Of the Year and lives in Dagenham, Essex, with her three-year-old son, Zachary.

Stacey currently co-hosts with comedy star Keith Lemon the hysterical Sing If You Can, a guilty Saturday night pleasure on ITV1 for many, but a show that also more importantly raises money for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity.

Longer locks: Stacey, left, on I'm A Celebrity at the end of last year, and right, in 2009 during her time on X Factor

The show sees celebrities attempting to sing songs while all sorts of distractions happen around them - like last week, when football legend Rodney Marsh and singer Ray Quinn attempted to sing Blur's Parklike while surrounded by dogs.

Teenage Cancer Trust aims to ensure that every young person with cancer and their family receive the best possible care so the show is well worth watching and donating - or just donate anyway.

Meanwhile, ditzy Essex star Stacey, who confirmed last month that she is wokring on her debut album, also has a book coming out on 12 May.

Her autobiography, it's called My Story So Far.

Thor heartthrob Chris Hemsworth left red-faced after being embarrassed with video of himself

By SARAH BULL

Dancing king: Footage has emerged of Thor hunk Chris Hemsworth on Australia's Dancing With The Stars in 2006

Chris Hemsworth was left embarrassed earlier this week after being shown a video of himself performing on Australia's Dancing With The Stars.

During an interview on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Hemsworth, 27, was stunned when Leno surprised him with the footage.

And after watching the video of himself performing on the programme with partner Abbey Ross, Hemsworth, who is a huge star in his native Australia, admitted he never really felt comfortable with his dancing ability.

Embarrassed: Hemsworth was left red-faced after Jay Leno showed him the video

He said: 'I wasn't much of a dancer. You know, down at the pubs with your mates and a few beers having a dance is a little different than the ballroom. It doesn't really translate.'

In the video, former Home and Away star Hemsworth is seen wiggling and gyrating his way around the dancefloor, while wearing a fetching blue shirt and tight black trousers.

Hemsworth appeared on the programme in 2006, when he was enjoying huge celebrity success Down Under thanks to his role in Australian soap Home and Away.

I wasn't very good: Hemsworth told Leno he wasn't very confident in his dancing ability

But the actor has come a long way since then, and has played characters including Captain Kirk's father in the most recent Star Trek movie and landing the role of Thor alongside Natalie Portman.

Corrie's Helen Flanagan goes back to her roots as she struggles to maintain peroxide blonde crop

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Bombshell: Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan's transformative peroxide blonde crop is growing out already

When she dyed her hair peroxide blonde, Helen Flanagan perhaps didn't think about how much maintenance the new 'do would require.

The 20-year-old actress, who plays Rosie Webster in Coronation Street, stepped out in Manchester today with her dark roots clear to see.

However, Flanagan seemed either unaware or unconcerned about her faux pas as she enjoyed the sunshine while shopping in the city centre.

In the pink: Flanagan appears to be enjoying the sunshine in Manchester City Centre during her three-month break from Coronation Street

Flanagan looked in good spirits as she strolled around, wearing a Noddy T-shirt bearing the slogan 'King of the Road' teamed with black jeans and a pair of huge sunglasses with bright pink flip-flops.

Following her transformation last month, a spokesperson for the actress told MailOnline: 'Helen has had the same hairstyle and colour for many years, and decided the time was right for a big transformation.

'She is absolutely thrilled with her new hairstyle and how it has made her feel.'

Flanagan's new look came during her three-month break from ITV soap Corrie to concentrate on her personal life.

King of the road: Helen was very dressed down compared to her normal glamorous self, right, and wore a Noddy T-shirt

After seeing her 'do for the first time, a spokesperson for the programme said they would be thinking of ways to write in the makeover upon her return.

The spokesperson said: 'We love Helen's look and knew she was having it done. It will be mentioned in some way on her return.'

One of the main reason's for Flanagan's break from the show was to concentrate on her relationship with footballer Scott Sinclair.

However, the 22-year-old striker has yet to comment on his girlfriend's new look.
Scott currently resides in Swansea after signing a three-year deal with Swansea in August.
