“Gantlet” and “gauntlet” are two different words that people confuse for the same word spelled differently. “gauntlet” means glove, so you throw down the gauntlet, and “gantlet” means ordeal, so you run the gantlet. The problem is, most people say “run the gauntlet,” so usage enforcers, such as copy editors, have to keep reminding people they are wrong.
A gantlet refers to moving while under attack from both sides, as in to run the gantlet. A gauntlet is a glove. To throw down the gauntlet means to issue a challenge.

Howard Buffet
For years, Howard Buffett focused his charitable efforts on environmental preservation. But ultimately, the farmer-philanthropist—and author of the NEW BOOK- Fragile: The Human Condition—decided feeding the planet came first.
wWhen he heard a sentence from a friend, Buffett realized that even his worthiest causes were futile in the face of mass starvation. When people don’t have anything to eat, they don’t worry about preserving the environment.
Buffett is one of the philanthropy world’s most restless thinkers.
Since then, Buffett has thrown himself into feeding people

the cookie diet

Josie raper made it to the cover of People magazine by eating 6 cookies all day. Six months later, her size 24 frame was down to a 6.
At 28 years old and 240 pounds, Josie Raper knew she had to make a change to live a healthier life.
The diet promises to help you lose weight by eating 6 cookies all day.
"It's not so easy for me," Raper of Gilbert, Ariz., told "Good Morning America."
"I would rather eat cupcakes than eat veggies and go to the gym."
After trying dozens of pills and programs that didn't work, she found Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet online.
"When I started the Cookie Diet, there was no splurging or sneaking little snacks," Raper said. "I was very strict and, to make sure that I could stay on the diet, I started the Monday of Thanksgiving so I got through every single holiday without snacking or caving in to my cravings."
Her success story landed her on the cover of People magazine.
Celebrities such as Denise Richards, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson also reportedly tried the Cookie Diet.
Here's how it works: You eat six specially developed diet cookies with water throughout the day, not as set meals but whenever you feel hungry. Then you eat an approximately 500-calorie dinner of lean protein and vegetables.
