Nintendo Wants You to Waste Money on Another Useless Remote

IGN is reporting that the new Wii Remote Plus is a go. So get ready to discard your Wii Remote and Motion Plus add on (don't get mad you only spent $40-$50 on them) and get ready to shell out more money for a new remote. It's not like the Motion Plus add on wasn't useful. We had what 3 or 4 games we could use it on. It seems like a wise move.  At least we are not in a recession!

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced at a press briefing in Japan last night the existence of the Wii Remote Plus, a combination of the Wii Remote and Wii MotionPlus peripheral. "For the convenience of the users, Nintendo is developing Wii Remote Plus, which integrates Wii Remote and Wii MotionPlus," Iwata said. "We will announce the details of this controller on our web sites and through other media at some later date."

Mike Mitchell's "NES Boy" Artwork is Nintendoreffic

We've featured artist Mike Mitchell numerous times on gblog.  His artwork is beautiful, very creative and usually pretty damn funny.  His most recent piece of art is entitled, "1985" (or as it it has also been called "NES Boy") is no exception.

Mike claims on his website, "that this particular piece of art is a quasi self portrait of my formative years."

I think this picture speaks volumes to million so of us out there that spent our youth just like Mike.  Gfest loves it!

New MojoWijo Turns Wii Remote into a High Tech Vibrator

Check out the Mojowijo, the new device that can be attached to the Nintendo Wii remote and can be used as a vibrator!

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!

The main appeal of this product isn't the ability to simply transform your Wii remote into a vibrator.  They've figured out how to let you control others' Wii Remote vibrators remotely.

Mojowijo transforms your Nintendo Wii remote control into a next generation body stimulation device.  The motions of one wiimote are transformed into vibrations in another wiimote. Literally allowing you to 'share the mojo' with anyone either in the same room or anywhere else in the world over the internet.
The device is attached to the accessory port on a Nintendo Wii remote control. The control is then connected to a bluetooth enabled PC running Mojowijo software. Using Mojowijo's patent pending Motion2Vibration technology, the device is able to transform the varying motions of the control into appropriate vibration signals and send them to another selected device.

They currently aren't for sale, but they are ready to start beta testing the Wiibrators soon.  Sign up HERE if you're interested in being a guinea pig.

BACK TO THE FUTURE Getting It's Own Video Game

It's about time.  One of the greatest movies ever made is finally getting a decent video game.  The USA Today is reporting that Telltale Games is working on a Back to the Future video game.

While those of us who still remember this original Nintendo masterpiece may be a little wary of another Back to the Future video game, this one is actually sounding like it has the potential to be pretty cool. According to Telltale (who also has a Jurassic Park game in the works), the game will be told in five "episodes" written by Bob Gale, who wrote the original three films, and will feature key time periods and characters from the movies.

What's even more exciting is that the game will feature the likenesses of Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd - and Lloyd will also be providing the voice for Doc Brown. Great Scott!

According to Wired, the game, which does not appear to have an official release date yet, will be released on "all major platforms."

Telltale Games will be kicking off their Back to the Future game hype in full force at the Penny Arcade Expo in the Seattle this weekend (which according to their website, is already sold out), where they will have a replica of the time-travelling DeLorean.

I hope you get to kick Biff's ass, ride a wooden skateboard, get to see a YOUNG Leah Thompson and Elisabeth Shue, get cool self lacing Nike high tops, and drive a DeLorean while creaming Doc!

Screw the Wiimote - Play Super Mario Brothers With Just Your Eyes

The geniuses at Waterloo Labs developed this awesome mod that allows you to control your character in Super Mario Bros on the NES using only the movement of your eyes.  Of course you have to wear tons of electrodes on your face, but that's a small price to pay for truly hands free gaming.

Video Game Character Yearbook Profiles

Andrew Bridgman over at Dorkly posted these hilarious pictures of video game characters yearbook profiles. I love Link's quote,  "I'm gonna go into this temple I'll be right back!" (said seven years ago).  Bomberman most likely never to be allowed in an airport.  Hilarious.

iPhone Game Pad Makes Video Games Feel Good

I'm old school (or just plain old) and i like my buttons.  Touch screen is here and it will dominate in future, but there is something to be said for the arcade buttons.  Finally, someone has answered my prayers.

iPhone Game Pad is an iPhone case that slides on over the iPhone and lets you play arcade style games on your iphone. It has "four control buttons along with select, start and a pair of shoulder-buttons". It is the perfect thing for playing old Super Nintendo games. Now it is a prototype compatible with the first-gen iPhone, you can watch it in action after more.

"Enter the gPod, an iPhone case with integrated gaming control pad. Interfacing with the Apple 30 pin connector and providing tactile buttons in the conventional game pad layout, the iPhone Game Pad allows a massive library of arcade and console games to be ported to the iPhone and not lose that old school interface that people who grew up in the 80′s and 90′s enjoyed so much."
