Batman: Arkham City Game Play Details Leaked

Other the past couple of months we received many beautiful screen shots from the highly anticipated sequel to Batman:  Arkham Asylum, but we have received little information on the actually game-play on Batman: Arkham City.  That is until now.

Thankfully, some incredibly hard working folks over at Arkhamcity.co.uk have released some facts on Batman: Arkham City that provides fans with some game-play details that the Dark Knight will take advantage of in the eagerly anticipated sequel. Here you go!

  • Batman will have special moves that can hit up to three enemies at once
  • He'll also have new air attacks - one of them involves Bats hanging by a cord and jumping over the enemies and disarming them.
  • You can return to the starting point of the jump or carry on with the fight. There is also a diving swivel attack which hits two enemies at once.
  • Batman now has special combat moves (apparently called "Terminators"). One of them is called "Fallen" and is a combination of quick punches with a vertical kick that launches the enemy into the air giving The Dark Knight a second aerial shot.
  • There are also other attacks where Batman combines combos and equipment to take out foes.
  • Batman will be able to climb all objects including buildings and wires (he'll be able to balance on them, something similar to what was seen in the Assassin's Creed II).
  • You will also be able to slide underneath objects, cling to poles and rods, and perform gymnastic maneuvers. You can slide down ramps to grab an enemy as well.
  • Batman now has a feature where he can dodge projectiles shot from firearms. It can also be used for normal attacks.
  • Batman will be able to grab enemies mid-flight.
  • When Batman is soaring, if you go toward a window he performs a motion diving with his feet to smash the window and execute a surprise attack.
  • Batman can now run and use gadgets at the same time. You can also run, jump and hit at the same time. Batarangs can be thrown even when Batman jumps into the air.
  • A new gadget upgrades Batman's "leap" (Translation is confusing but it seems to suggest some sort of cape upgrade that expands into wings, can also "attack enemies")
Batman: Arkham City is currently expected to be released sometime next Autumn.

Worst Freakin News of the Day - DC Universe Online Delayed Until 2011

Sony has delayed the long-anticipated DC Universe Online MMO this past summer, as now the game, which was originally supposed to come out in November, has been delayed until “early 2011.”

Here’s the reasoning, from the press release:
“SOE is dedicated to delivering the highest quality game experiences possible,” says John Smedley, President, Sony Online Entertainment. “DC Universe Online is the first game of its kind, and a truly massive undertaking — the first action MMO set in the DC Universe, the first MMO on the PlayStation® 3, and the first time the entire DC Universe will be accessible to the millions of fans who are eagerly anticipating its release. As the game heads into external beta testing, this extra time will allow us to address community feedback in a meaningful way. When we get deeper into external beta, we’ll be able to share more information regarding the new launch date.”
SOE has also revealed new details regarding the beta program. Players with VIP key cards and those having registered at the DCUO website will receive access on a priority basis starting as early as next week. As an added thank you, everyone that has already pre-ordered the game, and those who do so by November 15th, 2010, are assured access to beta by November 30th (North America only).

Anyone pre-ordering the game after November 15th will gain beta access one week prior to the launch date and will be able to participate in the special beta ending event entitled Battle of the Legends with the rest of the beta participants. As an additional bonus, all beta participants will be recognized post release with a special emblem for their character when the game goes live. Beginning October 7, 2010 instructions on how to qualify to receive your pre-order beta key will be located here: www.dcuniverseonline.com/betakey.

Well, as sad as I am about the delay, I guess I would rather have the game working to its max potential rather than fight through a bunch of bug fix updates like all the apple products I own.  Here's to 2011!!
