Heartbreak for 'devastated' Kelly Brook as she loses baby girl

By SARA NATHAN

Devastation: Kelly Brook has been left heartbroken after losing her baby girl at nearly five months

Kelly Brook has been left ‘devastated’ after losing the baby girl she was expecting with her boyfriend Thom Evans.

The striking model, 31, who was nearly five months pregnant, was rushed to hospital at the end of last week, but tragically suffered a miscarriage.

Miss Brook had announced she was pregnant after just three months of dating former rugby union international Evans.

Heartbreak: The baby was the first for Kelly and boyfriend Thom Evans

This evening, Miss Brook was resting at her farmhouse in Kent and a spokesman for the star told the Daily Mail: ‘I can confirm that Kelly and Thom have very sadly lost their baby.

‘They request that everyone please respects their privacy at this very painful time.
‘There will be no further comment.’

A friend said: ‘Kelly is understandably devastated, she’s at home and she’s being looked after by Thom and her mum Sandra.

‘There’s nothing you can say to anyone at a time like this – she just needs to be allowed some time alone to grieve.’

Love All: Cristiano Ronaldo and Irina Shayk cuddle up at the tennis

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Love all: Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Irina Shayk share a private giggle during the Madrid Open final tennis match

Giggling at a private joke and stealing kisses, they look like any other couple in love.

Cristiano Ronaldo and his Sports Illustrated model girlfriend Irina Shayk appear to be enjoying their time together during a rare period of being in the same country at the same time.

The couple, who are forced to spend weeks apart due to their work schedules, watched the final of the Madrid Open tennis today.

Nail-biting: the good-looking couple were transfixed by the on-court action between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic

The good-looking couple watched as Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal 7-5, 6-4.

Irina, 25, stood out in a bright red top which matched the flowers that adorned the VIP box they sat in with other Spanish celebrities.

Former world number one Carlos Mayer and his girlfriend Carolina Cerezuela sat behind them, while Cristiano's Real Madrid teammate Iker Casillas and his TV presenter girlfriend Sara Carbonero sat next to them.

Cristiano, 26, was preened to perfection as ever with his slicked hair, designer sunglasses and beloved deep tan.

But the footballer was let down by large sweat patches on blue shirt despite the weather being a mild 21 degrees celcius.

Irina and Cristiano were reunited last week after the Russian model flew in from New York to meet up with boyfriend of a year.

They were spotted canoodling in the stands of the Real Madrid v Zaragoza match, which Cristiano was benched for after tension with coach Jose Mourinho.

The big day was a week ago, but for the brands Kate wore, celebrations are only just beginning

By LIZ JONES

Sell out: Demand has surged for bridal dresses like the Alexander McQueen gowns Kate wore

All eyes have swivelled to the new Duchess of Cambridge to take up the baton and help our fashion industry limp out of the recession.

Becoming the unofficial style ambassador is the best job Kate can be doing for our morale and the economy.

But every brand (and they were all British) involved in the wedding, in however small a way, has seen sales go through the roof.

By far the biggest surge in orders has come from the U.S. We can expect these to increase when Kate goes there on her first official tour in the summer.

In demand: The perfumee Kate wore was Illuminum's White Gardenia Petals

THE FRAGRANCE
On her wedding day, Kate wore White Gardenia Petals from Illuminum, created by British ‘nose’ Michael Boadi.

The clean, fresh scent has a note of coconut bursting into ylang ylang, lily of the valley and jasmine, with amber wood as the base note.

Demand is so high there is a waiting list of customers longing to smell like the royal bride.

White Gardenia Petals costs £70 and is available exclusively from roullierwhite.com

THE EARRINGS
While Kate’s tiara was made by Cartier and borrowed from the Queen, her stunning earrings were a gift from her parents.

The diamond-set oak leaves with a pear diamond drop and pave-set diamond acorn were inspired by the new Middleton coat of arms.

Unavailable: Robinson Pelham won't be making anymore earrings like the Duchess', despite requests

BRIDESMAID DRESSES
Having designed children’s wear for 30 years, Marlborough-based Nicki Macfarlane is renowned for her exquisite outfits for bridesmaids and pageboys. She made the four young bridesmaids’ dresses: ballerina length, box-pleated ivory silk satin gazar, layered over organza, wild silk and petticoats.

They were handmade in Wiltshire and Kent, given an English lace trim and embroidered with the child’s name.

Pretty: The young bridesmaids, pictured with Maid of Honour Pippa Middleton in an Alexander McQueen design, wore handmade dresses by Nicki Macfarlane while their shoes were by the Rainbow Club

BRIDESMAID SHOES
Rainbow Club, based in Exeter, has been designing, making and hand-dyeing wedding shoes since the mid-Eighties.

Kate’s bridesmaids wore classic Mary Janes in satin, embellished with a Swarovski crystal buckle. Sales manager Richard Coles says: ‘We’ve been run off our feet, with people calling from all over Europe and the U.S.’

Why did Kate choose this little firm of 30 employees?

‘For the quality. We guarantee we will dye a shoe to match the exact colour of the dress. The Royal Wedding shoes were a special shade of ivory.’

THE HATS

Vivien Sheriff is a milliner who has her atelier in a decidedly unglamorous farm building in Wiltshire.

She made the famous fascinator worn by Kate on her first royal engagement in February, and was commissioned by 53 guests to make bespoke pieces.

Every piece is handmade by a team of six. An elaborate headpiece can cost up to £1,000. Since the wedding, online sales have doubled.

Best foot forward: Kate stepped into married life wearing LKBennett wedges

'The Kate': The shoes have been re-issued in her name

COURT SHOE WEDGES

The day after the wedding, Kate teamed a wintry blue Zara dress with a cropped black blazer and LK Bennett Greta wedges, £150. This prompted the chain to reissue the style, renaming it the Kate. It will be available in June, but already has a waiting list.

The Kate effect has meant sales of all wedges have soared at Topshop, Hobbs and even Christian Louboutin.

Pippa plc: Kate's little sister sets her sights on making a splash in business

By REBECCA ENGLISH

Fearless: Miss Middleton dives into the water in Ibiza in previously unseen pictures

She may have been a bridesmaid at the royal wedding, but Pippa Middleton is clearly not cut out to play second fiddle for long.

Her dazzling appearance on William and Kate’s big day has brought the 27-year-old an army of fans and dozens of online ‘appreciation’ sites.

And now it seems she intends to capitalise on her new public profile – by starting her own party planning business.

Pippa is determined to continue with her 'business plan' despite being 'furious' when topless holiday pictures of her emerged recently

Playful: Pippa climbs back aboard as William jokingly grabs Kate; right, the sisters relax on deck, with Kate using her camera

Sunshine days: William, in red shorts, with Pippa (left), Carole, in green bikini, and other holiday guests

Yesterday, as pictures emerged of her enjoying an idyllic holiday with family and Prince William on her uncle Gary Goldsmith’s yacht in Ibiza some years ago, she was said to be ‘furious’ that images of her topless had also been published.

But although she sees the topless photos as a betrayal by friends exploiting her fame, she is determined to continue with her ‘business plan’.

A friend said: ‘She is really buoyed by her success and is hoping to start her own party planning business.’ Photographs showing the new Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister partying in her underwear several years ago have also been circulating.

Making waves: The Prince failed to match Pippa's graceful aquatic display

After leaving college, Pippa set up an online magazine, Party Times, on the back of the Middletons’ business.

The source said: ‘Her aim is to branch out into organising events. I am sure she’ll be able to use new-found royal contacts to drum up business.

The Middletons have started to take action to have the racy pictures withdrawn.

Thousands line the canals of Venice as the Pope takes a gondola ride

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Pope on a boat: Benedict XVI sits in a gondola in the Grand Canal during his visit to Venice

It is an essential part of any visit to the Italian city of Venice, a ride on a gondola along the famous canals.

And for Pope Benedict XVI, the best way to travel was by water after holding an open-air mass attended by more than 300,000 people.

The mass was the spiritual highlight of Benedict's two-day visit, the first by a pope to Venice since his predecessor John Paul II plied the canals in a gondola styled for Venice's ancient rulers.

Follow me: The Pope, this time in a motor launch, is followed by many traditional boats and punts

Benedict too glided across the mouth of the Grand Canal in the same gondola, the Dogaressa, piloted by four gondolieri in white outfits and golden sashes. He was watched by thousands.

The Pope chatted quietly with Venice Cardinal Angelo Scola on the short journey, removing his white skull cap to prevent it from blowing away in the wind.

He was greeted with warm applause at the Our Lady of Good Health Basilica, where he met with cultural, artistic and economic leaders.

Earlier during the mass, Benedict spoke from beneath a huge dome constructed in the likeness of St. Mark's Basilica, replete with images of its golden mosaics of saints printed on cloth.

Please be seated: The Pope had earlier addressed a huge gathering of Italians in which he told them to be tolerant of immigrants

From Aquileia, Benedict travelled to St. Mark's Square, the heart of Venice, a city which for ages was the cultural crossroads between the East and West thanks to its strong merchant class.

He was greeted by around 25,000 well-wishers as he toured the arcade-lined square in an electric vehicle.

Benedict returned after Sunday mass to Venice's historic centre for lunch, followed by an assembly of bishops at St. Mark's Basilica.

The visit was held under tight security, with helicopters flying overhead during the mass and the Pope flanked by his personal security corps.

Crowd-pleaser: The Pontiff's boat travels under the Rialto bridge on the Grand Canal

Protection: Security around the Pope was as tight as ever

Popular: About 300,000 people attended the mass celebrated by the Pope in Venice

So what were Prince Harry and Charlize Theron chuckling about?

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Polo pals: Harry and Charlize Theron yesterday

His usual blonde companion is on-off girlfriend Chelsy Davy.

Yesterday Prince Harry appeared to have found a stand-in at the polo field, in the form of Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron.

The 26-year-old prince seemed at his ease with the South African Miss Theron, 35.

On or off? Prince Harry's former companion Chelsy Davy

Admiring glances: Observers noticed that the pair seemed to be getting along well

The pair laughed and joked together at the Audi Challenge Polo Cup at Coworth Park in Ascot, Berkshire.

Perhaps they were talking about charity work - something they have in common.

Harry helped establish Sentebale, in Lesotho, in southern Africa to help orphans and the forgotten victims of poverty and AIDS.

Miss Theron has established her own outreach project to help prevent the spread of HIV among teenagers.

An onlooker said: ‘They appeared to be getting on very well.’

Was a 3am balcony leap the reason Prince Harry looked a tad under par at the Abbey?

By CHARLOTTE GRIFFITHS

Best foot forward: Prince Harry arrives at Westminster Abbey... but is said to have hurt his ankle eight hours earlier after leaping from the Goring Hotel veranda

As he stood at his brother’s side in Westminster Abbey waiting for the bride to arrive, Prince Harry drew more than a few questioning glances.

Despite his smart military uniform, the young Royal appeared a little jaded, with his hair askew and a definite look of someone who had not had enough sleep.

Now a possible answer to the question of why Harry seemed a touch under par on Royal Wedding day has emerged.

Unusual exit: How Harry is said to have left the Goring Hotel hours before his appearance as best man at his brother's wedding

Sources have revealed that the best man was out socialising until 3am – eight hours before the wedding.

And he is said to have left the party venue with an athletic leap from a balcony which saw him land awkwardly on one ankle.

The scene of the raucous goings-on was The Goring, the hotel which the Middleton family had taken over in the days before the wedding on Friday, April 29.

On the Thursday evening, a group of the young Royal circle had congregated in a bar there and were enjoying themselves heartily.

The festivities came to an end only at 3am when a young copper-haired reveller casually jumped off a veranda balcony, landing with a clumsy thump on a lawn 6ft below – to roars of laughter from his friends.

Proud moment: Prince Harry accompanies his big brother down the aisle for the wedding

According to sources, that reveller was the athletic Harry, whose looming day of duty had not stopped him sharing a few drinks with friends.

An onlooker said: ‘Harry was with Pippa Middleton and Chelsy Davy among other friends for some pre-wedding drinks.

'He was the life and soul of the party until the early hours.

‘People were surprised to see him there so late before one of the biggest wedding days of the decade, and even more surprised when he jumped off the balcony – and landed with a thump.

'He had struggled to climb up the railings to get into position, so when he jumped over the edge he did so rather unsteadily and landed awkwardly next to a flower bed.

‘He flinched for just a moment before he stood up, rubbing his ankle. Then he looked up, smiled and waved to a roar of cheers before disappearing on to the lawn where there was a secret exit.

‘People were laughing and joking that his fall could have seen him walking through Westminster Abbey the following morning with a broken leg. At one point it was thought he’d twisted his ankle.

A spokesman said: ‘Prince Harry had a private dinner with his brother, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. What he did after that is a private matter.’

William larks around on a boat in Ibiza with Kate and the Middleton clan in never-before-seen pictures

By MAIL ON SUNDAY REPORTER

Athletic in Ibiza: Pippa Middleton performs a flawless backflip in to the warm waters of the Mediterranean as an admiring Kate looks on from the stern of the motor yacht

They were carefree days before the world became entranced by their every movement.

This is Kate Middleton and her sister Pippa as they've never been seen before, enjoying an exuberant holiday in Ibiza with their family and Prince William.

Taken in 2006, these previously unseen pictures capture a fleeting moment in the lives of the couple when they could behave like ordinary twentysomethings, unencumbered by the responsibilities they now carry as the new stars of the Royal Family.

Playful: Pippa climbs back aboard as William jokingly grabs Kate; right, the sisters relax on deck, with Kate using her camera

Sunshine days: William, in red shorts, with Pippa (left), Carole, in green bikini, and other holiday guests

They show the Prince larking around with Kate and Pippa, the girls' mother Carole and their brother James on a boat belonging to Carole's brother Gary Goldsmith during a week-long sunshine holiday to Ibiza.

Pippa shows off her athletic prowess -- and her enviably toned physique -- performing a backwards dive into the sea.

Kate, who also looks stunning in her white bikini, is content to stand back and watch.

Making waves: The Prince failed to match Pippa's graceful aquatic display

Carole, who won admiration at the wedding for her elegant appearance, also reveals a youthfully trim figure in an emerald green bikini.

Meanwhile, in his red swimming shorts, William could be any young man eager to impress his girlfriend by performing a backflip -- which somehow turns into a belly-flop by the time he hits the water.

Her Royal Hotness: Pippa in her bridesmaid's dress at her sister's wedding

The pictures reveal the extent to which the Middletons invited William into the heart of their family.

During their week in Ibiza, they stayed at Gary's £5million villa, dubbed 'La Maison de Bang Bang'.

Beatrice and Eugenie are stripped of their 24-hour protection after row over £50,000 annual cost

By ANDREW PIERCE

VIPs: Princesses Eugenie, left, and Beatrice could lose their police protection after a row over the £500,000 annual cost

Prince Andrew’s daughters are to be stripped of their 24-hour police protection after a growing row over the £500,000 annual cost.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are the biggest losers of a Scotland Yard review of security for the Royal Family.

The princesses, fifth and sixth in line to the throne, will be given protection only when they attend official events on behalf of the Royal Family.

Safe: The Princesses are driven away from Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding reception by a protection officer

Prince Andrew had fought ferociously for the protection officers to stay. He argued his daughters should be treated differently from other minor royals because they enjoy HRH status.

But his argument failed because their cousin Zara Phillips, the daughter of Princess Anne, has no protection – even though she has a higher public profile.

Furious: Prince Andrew is said to have fought to keep the protection officers as he feels they are different to other minor Royals because of their HRH status

The cost of guarding Eugenie, 21, in her first year at Newcastle University has been estimated at £250,000 a year. It includes salaries, accommodation and living and travel expenses of two full-time bodyguards.

Beatrice, 22, studying at the University of London, enjoys the same level of protection.

Prince Andrew insisted his daughters have full-time protection despite private police assessments that they were low-risk targets.

No protection: The Duchess of Gloucester will no longer have security unless on official business, while Zara Philips has no cover despite her high profile

The Home Office is determined to prune the estimated £50million security bill for the Royal Family.

Other minor royals such as the Duchess of Gloucester who, unlike princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, performs official engagements, will also have their protection withdrawn when not on official duty.

Forget Kate! The dressmakers working overtime on copycat gowns for brides-to-be...

By TAMARA ABRAHAM

The Pippa effect: Many women in the U.S. are demanding copies of the maid-of-honour's dress from the Royal Wedding, rather than the bride's

Bridesmaids' dresses are typically unattractive creations in saccharine peach or mint green. But Pippa Middleton's slinky white gown for her sister's wedding last week was such a knockout, fashion houses are working overtime to get copies in store.

While many had already been planning to replicate the new Duchess of Cambridge's bridal gown, designers admit they didn't anticipate the success of the maid-of-honour's.

Now several companies are responding to demand from brides-to-be, keen to channel 27-year-old Pippa's look for their own big day.

Meeting demand: Dan Rentillo, design director at David's Bridal, will be ordering as many copies of Pippa's dress as he will of Catherine's

Design director Dan Rentillo told the New York Times: 'There was really no anticipation about Pippa’s dress. I can’t think of one where there was such a fuss over the bridesmaid’s dress.'

Andrew Hops, vice president for JS Collections, added: 'She wore it so well, so we said, "We’ll do that dress right away."'

Unexpected trend: Mr Rentillo said that he couldn't think of a time when so much fuss was made over the bridesmaid's dress

Sketch in time: All three companies already have samples made up, and expect to get dresses on sale within six to eight weeks
